About the Author

Tera Wozniak Qualls is a young professional living and working in Grand Rapids, MI.  Tera is a focused professional with experience in planning and implementing organizational and program strategies.  A self-directed learner who enjoys building systems that help people and organizations connect, communicate, and make change more effectively.

Program management

A driven program manager with diverse experience, including conceptualization, planning, and development of new programs, as well as leadership of established programs. Programs have included curriculum on emerging leadership, social media, and professional development. Currently responsible for the redevelopment of the Nonprofit Good Practice Guide, a resource provided through the Johnson Center.

Facilitation and training

A team-focused leader who seeks innovative opportunities to help individuals learn and play to their strengths. Committed to facilitative management style that embraces the perspectives of colleagues and the community while guiding the team to good decisions. Completed Delta Strategy Facilitator Training, as well as training in Authenticity Circles.

Volunteer and staff management

A dedicated colleague and manager with experience in many aspects of the hiring and management process. Currently managing three student positions at the Johnson Center, as well as volunteer committees with community organizations. Deep interest in individual leadership and work styles, including participating in and facilitating trainings such as DiSC, True Colors, Medicine Wheel and Strengths Finder.

Community outreach

An active community member and believer in the power of engaging individuals for community change. Ongoing involvement in volunteer leadership roles has created a constant sense of connection to the community, both in Grand Rapids and the broader nonprofit community.  Currently participating in committee work for the Next Generation Leadership Forum, Independent Sector’s NGen Conference, and the Nonprofit Workforce Coalition. Committed to the use of new tools, such as social media, to expand the impact of community outreach.

Technical savvy

A self-directed learner open to trying new things and eagerly seeking the best emerging tools to work more efficiently and effectively.  Knowledge of website management, including the use of content management systems and HTML. Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, as well as Microsoft Office, and social media (e.g., WordPress, Twitter, Facebook).
